Here is a series of mascots I designed recently for the book market while I was on holiday in the UK. The project was to design a mascot for a children’s book on science. The mascot was to be dressed differently for each chapter. There was one for food science, botany, anatomy etc. I really had fun making the same character over and over again.
The client acquired the rights to a character and sent it to me. I then integrated the character into my own style. The client loved the changes.
Here is my interpretation. I felt the character silhouette worked, but since it would appear in a children’s book, the character design needed to look much more lovable and friendly. To fix that, I worked on the eyes. They are much more expressive and human than the original character. If you like it, let me know in the comments below.
